Illamasqua - Fire Rose from the Glamore Collection

Illamasqua recently released their take on textured polishes, except theirs are called "Shattered Stars" in their Glamore collection. There were four polishes but I only bought one, as I think they were quite similar to some of the OPI ones I already have. The one I'm blogging about today is Fire Rose, a lovely rose pink shade with pink hex glitters.

Drugstore Delights | Maybelline ColorSensational Vivids Lipstick - Vivid Rose

The ColorSensational Vivids lipsticks range by Maybelline has some lovely bright colours. The one I'm showing you today is in the shade, Vivid Rose.

Vivid Rose is a gorgeous shade of bright pink. While I normally wear red, this is the one pink to make me fall in love with pinks. I'm quite picky with pink lipstick, as I always find them too cool against my skin tone, but this is perfect. The colour is insanely bright! I absolutely love it.

Worth The Hype? | Clinique - Berry Pop blush

Clinique released four new blushes recently. I've heard a lot of love about these so I picked one up to try it. Australian prices suck hard, because this is $40 here, when in the US, it's around the $20 mark. I would've bought more, but narrowed it to one, which I'm showing you today, in Berry Pop.

Worth The Hype? | NARS - NARSissist eyeshadow palette

NARS' Narsissist eyeshadow palette was in stock on Mecca's website on Sunday and at the time of writing this, I can't seem to find it anymore. I guess everyone went zombie horde attack on live human on this... Having finished university, I thought, why not and splurged on this for myself. I went to my nearest Mecca store yesterday during my lunchbreak and the sales assistant told me that they only had three left by then. (Lucky me!)

It's popular and for good reason – it's fifteen of their neutral-ish eyeshadows (plus a limited edition one) and the quality is awesome. Despite the hefty price tag ($115, thank god for Myer One gift vouchers), I really think it's worth it.

Aussie Indies | Mckfresh - Oz from the Sunnydale Collection

Mckfresh Nail Attire, an Australian indie polish brand, released a Buffy inspired collection a while ago, called the Sunnydale Collection. The one I'm showing you today is called Oz, an awesome dark shimmery bronze base with an equally awesome in your face scattered holo. (Awesome.)

OPI Mariah Carey, Spring 2013 - The Impossible

I purchased a mini four pack of the Mariah Carey collection for OPI on a whim. I thought it was a good way to introduce myself to texture polishes. I was hesitant to dip my toes into liquid sands (as OPI calls textured polishes), because any nail polish addict knows what happened after the whirlwind that was shatters, right?

From the four, I put on The Impossible, which has a red jelly base and pink hex glitters. There were also some stars, but I didn't get any on of them on my nails. I didn't make an effort to fish them out, though.

Bad Beauty Beginnings | Benefit's High Beam

Here we go, again, another installment of Bad Beauty Beginnings! In case you don't know what this series is, I talk about all the horrible mistakes I made when I started out with make up! (Because, don't deny it, we've all been there...)

Up for today's post was my intial experience with using Benefit's High Beam!

(I actually wrote about this on my old blog. Something about Glee and Quinn sleeping with Puck because she felt fat that day and how I felt bad about my exam so I bought this.)

I was so excited about using this but to be honest, I didn't really have any idea how to use it!
I watched a Youtube video, thought I was absolutely pro, slathered it on, then used a cheapy eyeshadow brush on sale from Sportsgirl to rub it in.

Bad Beauty Beginnings | MAC Sea & Sky mineralize eye shadow + a swatch!

Thought it would be funny to look back on my hilarious and horrible histories with make up. So here is series! Reminisce with me as I'm sure we've all been there. (Or I could be the only noob who did these mistakes...)

In the three years that I've worn make up, it was only in the last two of them that I realised, yes, there really is a time and place for certain colours.

One of my mistakes when I was younger and naive when it came to make up involved MAC Sea & Sky mineralize eyeshadow.

When I saw it at my neareast MAC counter, I was mesmerized by its' marbled goodness and thought, hellz yeah, I need this in my life. I totally didn't have a blue eyeshadow, so it was a must.

You can only imagine my glee when I brought it home. I was so excited that I wore it the next day when I went to work. Back then, I worked at a very traditional menswear retail store.

NOTD | Essie - Bikini So Teeny swatch

I love periwinkle blues like little children love bubbles. I think I have about six bottles in my collection that fall within that colour category. But Essie's Bikini So Teeny, released in Summer 2012, is my favourite.

Swatch: two coats of Essie - Bikini So Teeny
It's got a silvery shimmer that looks amazing in sunlight. And look how shiny it is without top coat! On top of that, it dried super fast.

It's been hot here in Australia, and I really love how this glows under the sun!

What are your favourite polishes to wear in the summertime?
I'm always open to recommendations!
